NACT concludes in Southampton
The 2009 North American Cyclocross Trophy series comes to a close this weekend in the posh Hamptons area of Long Island, New York. Southampton Youth Services Park, a large swath of green built atop a former landfill, hosts the Whitmore Landscaping Super Cross Cup on Saturday and Sunday. Both races hold UCI C2 status.
The weekend is organized by the Hampton Velo Club, which has hosted cyclocross races at the park ? called SYS by locals ? for the past five years.

Joaquim Rodriguez hopes for Tour ride with move to Katusha
Joaquim Rodríguez might never get a ticket to the Tour de France riding for a Spanish team.
Now the all-rounder is hoping to finally get to race in France next July after his move from Caisse d?Epargne to Katusha.
Rodríguez is firming up his racing schedule with the Russian-backed team and it?s all but sure he?ll finally get a shot at the Tour.

Quick Step to ride Merckx bikes for three years
In choosing its bikes for the next three years, Quick Step team will be going back to its Belgian roots, signing a new sponsorship deal with Merckx cycles.
By inking a deal with Merckx, the team marks an end to its three-year relationship with California-based Specialized.
"It?s a matter of pride for us to have by our side such a prestigious brand and a cycling icon like Eddy,? said Patrick Lefevere, managing director of Quick Step.

An untried Australian team pursuit combination beat arch-rival Great Britain in the Melbourne World Cup round on Friday.
Cameron Meyer, Rohan Dennis, Michael Hepburn and Luke Durbridge clocked 3:59.599 seconds to win the gold medal ride-off.

Chocolate, Waffles and Cross - Mud!
Cyclocross and mud. They go together like peanut butter and jelly. Although, PB & J sandwiches taste a heck of a lot better and don?t hurt as much.
The combination of a midweek snowstorm and temperatures hovering around freezing was the magic recipe for thick wet mud here in Colorado. Now, if you reside in one of the moist parts of the world, I know what you are thinking. Big deal, we race in mud all the time, in fact we eat mud for breakfast.

Two more for Sky; Péraud to Lotto
Team Sky continues to bolster its lineup, announcing two new additions for the squad set to debut next season.
Dario Cioni (ISD) and Davide Viganò( Fuji-Servetto) are both set to join the upstart British-backed squad. With these two new riders, the team now has 24 confirmed riders.

Rebellin promises to fight
Davide Rebellin promises to fight to clear his name of charges that he doped to win the silver medal at the Beijing Summer Olympic Games.
UCI officials revealed earlier this week it intends to disqualify the 37-year-old Rebellin after he tested positive for CERA and revoke his Olympic medal and prize money.
In his first public comments on the case, Rebellin said he is initiating an appeal process to fend off allegations.

Contador signs deal with Astana
After months of wrangling, it looks like Tour de France champion Alberto Contador will stay with Astana for another year.
The two-time Tour winner announced Thursday he will fulfill the final year of his three-year contract with the troubled Kazakh-backed team and ride in Astana colors next season.

Aussies score at Melbourne World Cup
Olympic silver medalist Anna Meares headlined a winning night for Australia with victory over her Chinese rival Guo Shuang in the women's sprint at the Melbourne World Cup round on Thursday.
Meares beat Guo by two heats to nil in the best-of-three gold medal ride-off in one of three Australian victories on the opening night of the track World Cup.
World champion Cameron Meyer won the men's points race and Australia's Jayco professional squad claimed the team sprint.

2010 USA Cycling Pro Tour Calendar unveiled
USA Cycling announced today the fourth edition of the USA Cycling Professional Tour, which is highlighted by an expanded calendar and two first-time UCI events. While Garmin-Transitionsandrsquo; Dave Zabriskie captured the individual title in 2009, the powerful Columbia-HTC team edged fellow U.S. based Pro Tour squad, Garmin for the team title. This year some of the world's top riders will prepare to compete in any number of the ten USA Cycling Pro Tour events in the U.S.

2010 USA Cycling Collegiate Road Season begins in Tucson
The 2010 USA Cycling Collegiate Road season kicked off last weekend in Tucson with the University of Arizona Criterium, the year's first collegiate cycling race. The season will begin in earnest across the country in the weeks that follow, but this early season start was a great preview of the excitement to come.

In line with international direction, race radios banned in U.S.
In response to a request from the UCI that radios be banned in all national calendar races, the USCF Board of Trustees met and amended the rule regarding the use of race radios in all USA Cycling sanctioned road and track races. Radios will now be banned in all USA Cycling road and track races.

DEVELOPMENT WRAP: U.S. races in Berlin, Ladies get ready for Qatar
Over the weekend, Ian Moir and Kit Karzen contested the Berlin Six-Day and the U.S. National Team competed in the 2010 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships where Meredith Miller turned in the top result for the squad with a 12th-place effort. Coming up, USA Cycling will field a team of six ladies for the Ladies Tour of Qatar.

Four finish in top 20 in elite contests at Cyclo-cross Worlds
The 2010 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships wrapped up Sunday in Tabor, Czech Republic with the elite men and women going at it despite frigid temperatures and a snow laden course. Despite the withdrawl of America's top medal hopeful, Katie Compton, the U.S. managed to place four riders inside the top 20. In the womenandrsquo;s race Meredith Miller was the first American to cross the line in 12th-place, while USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Champion Tim Johnson was the first American across for the elite men in 14th.

Cyclo-cross Worlds open in Tabor with Junior and U23 men's races
The 2010 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships kicked off on Saturday in Tabor, Czech Republic with the U23 and Junior men duking it out on a course that was frozen from the region's heavy snowfall in recent weeks. In the junior race, Cody Kaiser was the first to cross the line for the U.S. National Team, in 33rd place, while Zach McDonald was the first across for the U23 squad in 28th.

USA Cycling hires Management Cycling Prof to manage Womens Program
USA Cycling announced today the hiring of Management Cycling Prof, S.L. to manage the organization's Women's Endurance Program. Led by Director Sportif Manel Lacambra, the Spanish-based company will direct the national governing body's women's development efforts from the USA Cycling European Residence Center in Lucca, Italy.

2012 and 2013 Cyclo-cross World Championships headed to Louisville
USA Cycling is honored to announce that Louisville, Kentucky today was chosen by the Union Cycliste Internationale, cycling's international governing body, to host the 2013 Elite Cyclo-cross World Championships and the 2012 and 2013 Masters Cyclo-cross World Championships. This historic appointment is the first time the Cyclo-cross World Championships will be held outside of Europe in the 50 plus year history of the championships. These events will mark the first Elite Cycling World Championship of any discipline held on U.S. soil since the Track World Championships took place in Los Angeles in 2005.

U.S. riders grabbed four medals at Masters 'Cross Worlds
On January 23, masters 'cross enthusiasts converged on Mol, Belgium to duke it out in the first world championship event of the 2010 season - the UCI Masters Cyclo-cross World Championships. U.S. riders grabbed six top-10 finishes in Mol, four of which were podium places.
